Housing Accommodation Requests

Housing and Residence Life is committed to supporting students with medical and religious/spiritual needs.

Through partnerships with other campus offices, Housing and Residence Life may be able to provide room accommodations and modifications to dining plans to address individual needs. Medical and religious/spiritual housing accommodation requests can be submitted through the Housing portal, available via DrexelOne on the Campus + Community tab.

Students seeking a medical housing accommodation must submit documentation that supports their request directly to Drexel's Office Disability Resources (DR). More information, including deadlines, can be found on the DR website. Room accommodations or modifications will not be processed until Housing and Residence Life has received an approved accommodation verification letter from DR.

Religious/spiritual accommodation decisions will be made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each individual situation, with decisions made in collaboration with the Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusive Culture and campus spiritual leaders. Accommodation requests do not often end in release from the residency requirement, as religious/spiritual accommodation requests can be met in on-campus and University-Affiliated Housing.

Specialty Housing

Residential students can indicate interest in ablution-friendly (wudhu) or kosher/Shabbat-friendly housing on their housing application. Residents in ablution-friendly housing have access to a private kitchen, living room, and bathroom equipped with a bidet and hand held shower head. Kosher-friendly accommodations include access to a private kitchen, living, and bathroom. The kitchen will be kosherized prior to move in. Students that select either option will live with others that have also indicated interest in this type of housing. Students with questions about these housing options should contact Housing and Residence Life to learn more.
