Maya D’Angelo, sport business ’27, is excited to be able to watch football on TV — for once. As a game day staffer for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Drexel University student has spent the season catching glimpses while working at Lincoln Financial Field.

“I'm there every home game, but everyone wants to be there and wants the same thing, and that’s to see the Eagles win,” D’Angelo said. “We’re there for the fans to make their experiences and game days better. It’s very fulfilling.”

Though she’s attended every home game this season, her ability to see the game depends on where she gets assigned in the stadium. Luckily, the Bennett S. LeBow School of Business student could watch all of the Jan. 26 NFC championship game, which the Eagles won to make it to the Super Bowl.

At the Linc, D’Angelo’s job focuses on helping every fan have the experience they want, from ticket entry to guest services concerns. She wanted to find a job that was involved in Philly’s sports teams; as a lifelong fan and current sports business major, she’s always wanted to work for the big leagues.

Her job at the Linc isn’t part of her co-op experience at Drexel, but it’s still helping her find her path in the sports industry. She now knows she thrives in a chaotic environment because it pushes her to do better and do more amidst the chaos, and she’s learned a lot about leadership and teamwork from her coworkers.

“I feel like knowing these things definitely helps in searching for co-op jobs too, because it’s given me a different perspective on the world of sports,” D’Angelo said.

In her third year, D’Angelo has already had one co-op, with SquashSmarts, a nonprofit located at the Arlen Specter Squash Center on Drexel’s University City Campus. The organization helps kids from local schools get involved in after-school squash programs and academic tutoring.

“That co-op really helped solidify my passion for sports,” D’Angelo said. “Working at a nonprofit was an amazing experience too. I was working two other jobs when I had that co-op and started working at the Linc then too, so it was a lot, but it taught me about time management and honoring my commitments.”

As a lifelong Philly fan who’s also from the region, D’Angelo has fond memories of the team’s first Super Bowl in 2018.

“I watched it with my family and remember how it felt when the Eagles won and we all went to the parade together,” D’Angelo said. “It was just such a cool family experience. I love the city and its sports, and the Eagles winning the Super Bowl was such a core memory for me. Obviously, I want it to happen again.”
