Traveling as an Admissions Representative

Since starting my role in the transfer admissions team at Drexel in December 2023, I never expected to have the opportunity to travel to the West Coast so soon. Fall is the busiest season for admissions-related travel, so when the chance arose to visit Northern California, I was excited to help put Drexel on students' radars. I spent nearly two weeks in early September 2024 traveling to different parts of NorCal, meeting prospective first year and transfer students, and sharing why Drexel and Philadelphia may be the right fit for them.

Whether it is meeting you on the road or through one of our virtual events, I hope to see you out there and answer any questions you might have about the transfer process.

In my role, I often meet with transfer students who are looking for a specific academic environment that aligns with their goals. That is why we make the effort to travel and visit community colleges or other higher education institutions where transfer students are currently enrolled. These visits allow us to meet students in their own environment, where they’re already thinking critically about their academic path and how transferring might fit into their future. Whether through in-person visits or fairs, our team works hard to connect with students who are seeking a fresh start or looking to continue their educational journey at Drexel.

When I visited high schools or community colleges in NorCal, it was clear how different the conversations can be with transfer students. Unlike high school students, where the focus is more on introducing the University as a whole to them, transfer students need a more in-depth, specific conversation about the next steps in their academic journeys.

Even though my travels for work were busy, I still made time to explore the new area. It was great to reconnect with a college friend during my trip, and I also had the chance to explore San Francisco during my downtime. Even during a work trip, I still had moments to be a tourist and take pictures at the Golden Gate Bridge and the Painted Ladies.

Whether it is meeting you on the road or through one of our virtual events, I hope to see you out there and answer any questions you might have about the transfer process. Feel free to reach out with any questions along the way!
